This is a common question for many people. They fear that the laser treatment will be painful. The laser we use features contact cooling and tends to neutralize the hot flash you typically feel with laser treatments. The majority of patients describe the feeling as a quick hot flash, or like a rubber band snap. The cooling piece can be left over the treatment area to make it more comfortable. Of course, everyone tolerates pain differently ‒ but laser treatment is far more comfortable than either waxing or electrolysis. The first treatment tends to be the least comfortable, but as you get less hair / brown spots, the treatments get more and more comfortable. The hot sensation that you feel is the laser hitting the pigment in your hair & spots. The less pigment = less heat.
Every individual treatment plan is different and this question can be more accurately discussed in your free consultation. In short for hair removal 5-10 treatments is the average for hair removal, some patients need less some need more. Hair grows in 3 cycles: Anagen, Catagen & Telogen. Laser hair removal only targets the hair in the Anagen phase (growing phase) because the hair is connected to a blood supply. Because of this you need to receive treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to successfully target all hair in this growing phase. While laser hair removal is extremely effective, it will not eradicate all hair growth permanently due to many factors. Over time, you may see signs that hair is starting to return. For this reason, it’s a good idea to plan for a touch-up a few times a year to maintain the benefits of the original treatment. IPL photofacials will typically lighten brown and red pigments after 1 session but the beneficial results will continue to increase over time, and as the treatment progresses, 3 treatments is ideal.
Prior to laser treatments, it is best to avoid the sun where you will be receiving treatment. Do not wax, tweeze, or have electrolysis treatment 4 weeks before laser hair removal treatment to disrupt the follicle. Shaving is okay, and please come to your appointment with the area you want to be treated clean shaven no later than the day prior. Do not use any skin irritating products 3 days prior to treatment. (glycolic for example.) Do NOT use photosensitive drugs at least 7 days prior to your treatment. Do not tan, or apply sunless tanning products to your skin 4 weeks prior to treatment to avoid complications. Please avoid from using lotion on the area the day of your treatment.
Following your hair removal treatment, the area can be tender, slightly red or swollen. It may resemble a slight sunburn. This will usually disappear within 24 hours. Be gentle with your skin the first 24 hours, no extremely hot showers, and pat rather than rub dry. Apply ice or cold compresses to the treated area to help with any discomfort you might feel. Pure aloe vera gel is also very soothing. For facial treatments, apply SPF 30 if you will be in the sun. Following your treatments, please avoid anything that excessively raises your body temperature for the first 48 hours, no saunas or jacuzzis please. Do not irritate your treated skin, do not pick or scratch at the skin. Please avoid additional hair removal products other than shaving, and please do not exfoliate for about a week. Around 10 days after your hair removal session, the treated hairs will begin to shed and fall out, this is completely normal. Following photofacial treatments, your dark spots may become darker, and will sometimes crust or form a scab. DO NOT pick these scabs. Allow the scabs to fall off naturally. If you can avoid deodorant on treated underarms for 24 hours after treatment it is ideal. If you have very sensitive skin you may experience some minor epidermal blistering. If blistering or crusting occurs, you may use hydrocortisone cream 3 – 5 days following your laser treatment to help with healing.

Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment (melanin) seen in the hair bulb under the skin. The laser is a specific wavelength that safely and effectively targets and kills the hair.The light is absorbed by the pigment in your hair, which effectively disables the hair follicle. The laser only works on hair that is actively in the growing phase and at any given time about 1/3 of the hair is in this phase. This is why a serious of treatments are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart to effectively target all hair.
Limelight (Photofacial, photorejuvenation, IPL) works similarly to laser hair removal. It works by targeting the pigment (melanin) in the skin that causes brown spots. When the laser hits the pigment it breaks it up, and then your body will naturally eliminate this pigment either by shedding to the top of the skin, or naturally eliminated by your body. It effectively uses heat to reduce redness and discoloration on the skin.

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy, please know that we have reserved this time specifically for you. When you do not show up for your appointment, this takes time away from other clients who are on a waiting list for an appointment. Please see below the new fee's.
1st missed appointment/ not showing up : You will be charged $50.00 to your credit card used for online booking.
2nd missed appointment: If you NO SHOW to 2 appointments, you will be required to hold your appointment by pre-paying via e-transfer. If you do not pre-pay when booking, your appointment will be cancelled. Please contact us at 204-619-4156 to arrange your appointment.
3rd missed appointment: If you NO SHOW to 3 appointments, we apologize to inform you that you will no longer be able to book online as your account will be suspended after 3 missed appointments. Please contact us at 204-619-4156 if you would like to book an appointment, and we will discuss based on the circumstances if you will be able to rebook.
Please note that if you are 10 or more minutes late for your appointment, this is considered a no show and you will be required to reschedule & pay the $50.00 charge. If you are stuck in traffic, or running late please phone us and we will let you know if we can work around it, or if we will need to reschedule you. Unfortunately we book back to back (especially in the evenings) and if you are 10 minutes or more late, it will cause us to run behind all night, and its not fair for our other clients who are on time for their appointments. We thank our clients for understanding this.
If you are sick/contagious: Please cancel your appointment, we don't require advanced notice for this, and appreciate you rescheduling. We will do our best to reschedule you as quickly as possible when you are well again. Unfortunately if Nicole gets sick and has to stay home, it results in lots of rescheduled appointments.
** We consider a NO SHOW when you completely do not show up to your appointment with no notice. We understand life happens, people get sick, snowed in, emergencies etc. Please just let us know at your earliest convenience that you are unable to attend your appointment. **
For all of our new clients, please understand that Rewind Laser Clinic is owned and fully operated by Nicole. In the past, text messages have been responded to outside of regular business hours - early morning into the evening. Changes to this have been made and Nicole will only respond to text messages during regular business hours. Please allow up to 1-2 business days (MAXIMUM) to get a response from Nicole to your text messages - as she can only answer them between her scheduled appointments. We have our convenient online scheduler for this reason so that you can quickly secure your appointment time.
